The Counter Magnet project

Gwalior was selected for development as a counter magnet city under the National Capital Region Plan. Its purpose is to take population pressure off Delhi. Given the city’s distance from Delhi and its scope for growth, it has a significant part to play in the economic development of the region.

  1. 1 Halt migration from less developed areas towards Delhi and draw it to Gwalior instead.
  2. 2 Orderly, phased urbanisation of the area as a regional centre of growth.
